The State of Florida and the Seminole tribe have failed to enter into an acceptable compact concerning the gaming operations throughout the state.

The Legislature’s provision that would allow gambling to be expanded outside a 100 mile radius from existing pari-mutuels, is the focus of tension between the parties.

The Seminoles CEO of gaming operations, James F. Allen made the tribes stance known by delivering a message to the state legislature on Tuesday: You can allow unlimited gambling statewide, or you can have our $150 million a year. But you won’t get both.

In a bill signed into law last summer, the tribe was allowed to include table games in their Broward and Hillsborough county casinos. They have also expressed an interest in expanding their properties in Hollywood, Tampa and Coconut Creek.

Since the Seminoles are a sovereign nation they are exempt taxes by the state or federal government.

The agreement allowing the state to benefit from the additional revenue is now at stake.

Legislatures hope to ratify the compact during a special legislative session in December, if they fail to reach an agreement, it will not be addresses until the regular March session.
