Sands Casino Bethlehem, in Pennsylvania has launched the opening of two new restaurants and 250 new slot machines this weekend.
In preparation for the debut, the casino operator was required to have all machines inspected by the state and train new staff. The new venues added 80 jobs to the casino bringing the total employment to 1,100 people.
Originally Sands had planned to roll out 2,000 new machines, but settled on 250 to leave room for table games, currently being considered by the state legislature. The new machines include 32 electronic roulette tables and a mix of standard slot machines.
President Robert DeSalvio said the expansion is a positive sign for the casino and will help accommodate larger weekend crowds.
The two new restaurants opened within the casinos included Emeril Lagasse first burger restaurant, burgers and More by Emerill as well as the Carnegie Deli opened as a replica of the landmark New York restaurant.
