Harrah’s Entertainment has recently launched its new online gambling site, Caesars Casino Online.
Although Harrah’s is a U.S. based gaming company, the site is not available to U.S. customers. Instead U.S. patrons are redirected to a website featuring several land based casino operations owned by the company.
The site is powered by software developer Dragonfish an independent entity within 888 holdings.
The casino reportedly features traditional table games such as poker, blackjack, roulette and craps as well as video slots.
There has been speculation within the Industry that Harrah’s has expanded into the online gaming market in anticipation of a change to the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), in order to be one of the first legally licensed online casinos offering real cash gambling to U.S. wagers.
Lawmakers headed by Representative Barney Frank have begun discussions about overturning the enforcement act as well as laying the foundation for regulated online gambling in the U.S.
