The Ottumwa City Council will meet on Tuesday to discuss a potential 30 year lease of city land for the development of a proposed casino near the Bridge View Center.
Before council members vote on the issue, a public hearing will be held to discuss the terms of the agreement with Ingenus of Iowa, LLC.
Regardless of the vote, according to the City Planner Dave Shafer’s staff report the agreement hinders on the casino request being approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
Council members are also planning to discuss whether or not the city will enter into a 28E agreement with Wapello County for financing infrastructure at Rippling Waters Casino.
The agreement calls for both the city and county to help finance infrastructure improvements including street and sewer construction, utility placement, parking lot and ramp construction and other casino related projects.
