Penn National Gaming Inc and the International Speedway Corp have announced a plan to begin construction for Kansas’ second casino under the state’s expanded gaming act of 2007.
According to developers, construction is expected to begin in late summer or early fall on the new casino near the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.
Penn National CEO Peter Carlino said in a news release that the approval “formally cements our role in the Wyandotte County community.”
The facility is expected to be stocked with 2,300 slot machines and 86 table games over a 100,000-square-foot casino floor.
Kansas’ expanded gambling law allows for casinos to be constructed in just four areas of Kansas.
The Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City, opened their doors in December. Earlier this week, Butler National Corp. announced that Boot Hill generated $5.1 million in gross revenue during its first month and a half of operation.
