Gambling will no longer be an option for guests at the upscale Lake Las Vegas Resort as the communities only gaming facility prepares to close.
Casino MonteLago has officially notified Nevada’s Gaming Control Board that because of a lack of visitation and the impending closure of the Ritz-Carlton they would be forced to shut down operations next month.
Although owners, CIRI Lakeside Gaming were seeking additional investors, potential lenders saw little chance for Casino MonteLago’s survival without the Ritz-Carlton, since the luxury hotel was a vital marketing tool.
John Tipton, an attorney for the casino said “We had to immediately start exploring other alternatives, and this was the only alternative left to us.”
The resort will be left with one non gaming hotel with 493 rooms on the other side of the 340 acre lake that is the centerpiece of the resort community.
A Spokeswomen for Loews Lake Las Vegas says they have no plans to close and that the booking pace is ahead of last year’s numbers, “We’re still promoting the destination as a place for outdoor adventure and corporate meetings.”
