Sands Casino Bethlehem has officially submitted the first application to implement table games after Pennsylvania lawmakers approved the gaming expansion last month.
The Gaming Control Board received Las Vegas Sands application today requesting approval to add approximately 80 of the 250 table games now permitted.
Sands plans to include a variety of games including blackjack, craps, roulette, poker and baccarat.
“When the first card is dealt, Sands Bethlehem instantly becomes the most convenient gaming location for millions of New York City and northern New Jersey residents,” said Robert DeSalvio, president of Sands Bethlehem.
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Chairman Gregory C. Fait said that Sands could have table games up and running as early as the Fourth of July.
The addition of table games to the already profitable slot casino comes at a good time for the company, as Mayor John Callahan has begun pressuring Sands to commit to a construction timeline on the stalled hotel, mall and conference center addition.
Las Vegas Sands President Michael Leven said that the project would be reevaluated at the end of the year, once the casino rolled out the table tables.
