Christian Peterson is no stranger to Las Vegas Courts and will return on Monday to enter a plea to criminal charges after failing to repay loans extended him at two casinos.
Peterson was named in a criminal indictment in Clark County Nevada District Court on February 3 on charges stemming from an eight day gambling spree where he allegedly raked up $3.75 million in markers at the Caesar’s Palace and the Hard Rock Casino.
Peterson’s lawyer, Chris Rasmussen, said Thursday “there are a lot of facts in dispute”.
Clark County Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski, said Thursday that facts of the civil case are reflected in the criminal charges, with an added “intent to defraud.”
Peterson recently lost a civil suit where he accused Harrah’s of false imprisonment and other charges after an incident where he claimed to have won $1.5 million at Caesar’s and then flew home on the casino’s plane before being rerouted back to Vegas where Caesar’s owners pressured him to sign markers they said he gambled.
The Judge ordered Peterson to repay Caesars $2.6 million.
“Part of the evidence is that he tried to get out of town without signing his markers after repeatedly being requested by the casino to sign his markers,” Zadrowski said. “He tried to move the time of flight up to avoid further requests from the casino. He thought he was home free but the pilot turned the plane around and brought it back.”
Peterson’s attorney said he is taking the charges seriously but that “It’s just one of those Las Vegas things.”
