The Alabama gambling task force asked the manager of a warehouse in Birmingham to remove 300 electronic bingo machines from the premises and then helped move out of the state.

Task force commander John Tyson said that customs officials notified Alabama State Troopers that the machines had entered the U.S. at Jacksonville, Fla., from Panama and were headed for the warehouse.

Sheriffs deputies along with task force agents confronted workers at a warehouse in Jefferson County to confirm the new arrivals. Authorities verified that there were more than 300 machines stored on site and that they would have to go.

This comes as the state legistlature tries to push through a gambling bill pending in the Senate that is designed to stop the Governor Bob Riley’s task force.

The legislation would allow electronic bingo casinos at 10 locations statewide beyond the three the Indian casino that they are currently permitted. The bill would regulate, tax and expand electronic bingo casinos in Alabama.
