The second stop of the North American Poker Tour’s six stop season begins this weekend in a six day series at the Venetian casino on the Vegas strip.

The stop will feature a $5,000 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold’em main event with more than 400 players.

A $25,000 buy-in shootout tournament is also planned with players including invited professionals Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein and Antonio Esfandiari.

“This involves us having the best partner venues, a great number of players participating and incredibly well-run events,” said Jeffrey Haas, managing director of tour owner Global Poker Tours Ltd.

The unique format will start with a maximum of 64 players comprised of 36 invited players and 28 slots for satellite winners or buy-in players.

Players will win $5,000 for each player they eliminate from the tournament plus a minimum of $50,000 for outlasting all opponents at the first table and making it to the final tables.

Pokerstars will also pay $100,000 to the player who eliminates the most players.

Global Poker Tours owner of the tour has recently announced that an agreement has been reached with cable network ESPN2 to air 16 one hour episodes of its tournaments.

“We have a long-term view on our relationship with ESPN and hope to provide the most riveting poker content available,” said Haas.
