Stephen Wynn provided investors a glimpse into his ideas for the future of Philadelphia’s Foxwoods Casino, during a conference call yesterday.
Earlier this week it was announced that Wynn Resorts signed a letter of intent to develop and manage the struggling casino project, subject to approval from Pennsylvania Gaming regulators.
He said that he would appear in the state’s capital on Wednesday to share his plans with the Gaming Control Board for the “cutest casino you have ever seen.”
“I’m happy to say we’re feeling very good about it,” Wynn said “it will not look like slots in a box.”
While he did not disclose the estimated cost of the investment he did say it would not be “an earth-shaking number”.
Wynn has spend the past several weeks reviewing plans and ideas for the project and said that it would “have all the bells and whistles of a good-looking casino.”
However his plans differ from the original plans approved for the project, while Foxwoods was to include a hotel, Wynn says he will develop a “straightforward casino” and not a “destination resort”.
He said he had a one story casino in mind with 3,000 slot machines, table games, a poker room, an Italian restaurant, a steak house, and an Asian restaurant to attract members of the surrounding Italian and Vietnamese neighborhoods.
