That’s because of the $300 million Choctaw casino in Durant, Oklahoma is looking more and more attractive to players that like to raise the stakes a little.
Durant is just an hour and a half drive from Dallas and offers a 12-story tower with 3,000 slots.
“I think they’re scared in Shreveport,” said Brian Heath, a one-time regular in Shreveport. “I’d put this hotel up against the best out there.”
Oklahoma’s border casinos are now bringing in more than $1.5 billion annually and close to 90 percent of that coming from visitors from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
According to the National Indian Gaming Commission, Oklahoma tribal casinos have been one of the fastest-growing groups in the nation for the past four years.
