Last week reports surfaced that Las Vegas Sands Corp planned to sell the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Pennsylvania, that opened in May because of “disappointing” earnings during the fourth quarter of 2009.
However , today Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson called the reports “unfounded” and announced plans to restart the stalled construction on the resorts 300 room hotel tower as soon as subcontractors are lined up and activated.
“We are looking forward to reviewing our table games application with the Gaming Control Board, and at the same time we have undertaken efforts which will result in construction resuming on the hotel portion of the development in the very near future,” said Las Vegas Sands Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon G. Adelson.
Adelson also said the 80 table games being added to the casinos slot machines, once approved by gaming regulators would make the casino more profitable.
