A settlement has been reached in a trademark lawsuit filed against the future $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan resort by Cosmopolitan magazine owner Hearst Communications.
Under the terms of the settlement the gaming project on the Vegas Strip has officially changed its name to the “The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.”
“We are thrilled to announce the official name of the resort – The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. All legal issues regarding the name have been resolved,” the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas said in its announcement.
The 50 story tower with 2,995 hotel rooms and condo accommodations, three pools, a spa and convention center, casino, restaurants and nightclub offerings was expected to open in late 2010; however a company spokeswoman said further details should be available in April.
The Resort is under the control of Deutsche Bank after being taken over when original developer 3700 Associates LLC entered foreclosure proceedings on the property amidst the economic crisis.
Rumors have circulated that the venue will be operated by Hilton Hotels Corp under the Conrad and Hilton brands.
