The Sportsman Casino granted site approval and licensing in February has told the Mississippi Gaming Commission that they were completing architectural plans and working on securing investors.
Casino officials said that major backers should be secure by fall to finance the cost of the $75 million project slated to open in the fall of 2011.
The project being developed by McKay Ventures LLC and Lakes Entertainment will include a 50,000 square foot gaming floor and will renovate the old Isle of Capri hotel which has 220 rooms.
Construction could start this summer.
“We are currently working on the details of the casino development, but we expect it to be a first class casino facility with the exciting new games, restaurants, entertainment, a hotel and other amenities.” said Lyle Berman, Lakes’ Chief Executive Officer.
