The Missouri Gaming Commission has started the process to seek a casino operator for the states remaining gaming license.

When Pinnacle Entertainment closes the ailing President Riverboat Casino in July, the state will have one license available and has asked interested parties to contact the commission prior to May 1.

“The Commission is taking the first step in identifying a process for awarding a casino license in the State,” Executive Director Gene McNary said Thursday in a statement.

While applications are not being accepted yet, the commission plans to hear brief statements from those interest in obtaining the permit anywhere in the state. Once materials are reviewed they will discuss the next step in the process with qualified entities.

North County Development LLC is expected to inquire as they have proposed a $350 million Riverview Casino in north St. Louis County.

Pinnacle Entertainment has said that they do not have immediate plans to apply for another license as they will focus their attention on its two other St. Louis casinos.
