In Tallahassee, Florida, legislators are closer than ever to striking a gambling deal with the Seminole Indian Tribe that would inject $450 million into the state budget.

Negotiators say that many issues have been ironed out, however, the big part of the deal is still on the table.

A major concern is whether or not the tribe will agree to the House’s proposal to allow horse tracks, dog tracks and jai alai frontons outside of South Florida counties to install gambling machines.

According to the tribe, if legislators plan to allow Class II slot machines outside of Broward and Miami-Dade counties, the deal will be sunk.

Lawmakers have been trying for years to strike a deal with the Seminoles. Earlier attempts have always proven to be unsatisfactory to at least one of the two sides.

With so much money on the line, the state wants to have a resolution by April 30th, the last day of the Senate’s regular session.
