The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, received a big boost from an extremely powerful supporter this week.

Beneficial Holdings, a major player in the gaming and hospitality management industry, announced that it supports the work being done by the initiative.

Beneficial plans to unveil their new Internet casino for non-United States residents this April. They hope to be able to provide their services to U.S. players soon. Currently online gamblers in the states must turn to Internet casinos that are located outside of the country.

Many of these companies are not licensed and unregulated.

In a company released statement Beneficial Holdings made their plans for the future a bit more clear to the public.

“Our subsidiaries are creating an online casino licensed in Costa Rica, and we expect to have it available for non-U.S. residents this coming month. The Company would gladly license itself in the United States for domestic residents if federal regulations allowed the activity.”

Recently, representative Jim McDermott of Washington State introduced the Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act of 2010. If his legislation becomes law, online gambling in the United States will be legalized, taxed and regulated by the government.

Revenue could be used to support all sorts of federal programs that are sorely in need of funding.
