As many casino operators continue to struggle after the economic recession limited travel to Las Vegas, another small gaming property teeters on the verge of bankruptcy.
This week, 155 East Tropicana, reported that it lost $3.758 million on net revenue of $11 million during the quarter ending December 31, 2009.
Hooters hotel and casino continues to struggle with $160 million of debt and remains in default with lenders after failing to make payments due in April and October of 2009 and said that there is still not enough cash to make the interest payments coming due this week and again in October.
While they remain in discussions with lenders about restructuring debt the company said “We cannot be assured that we would be successful in completing a refinancing or restructuring. If we are unable to do so, we may determine to seek protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.”
The Hooters Casino, formerly the Hotel San Remo Casino and Resort officially open in early 2006 just one block off the famous Vegas Strip. The 29,000 square foot casino offers 670 slot and video poker machines and 32 table games as well as an array of dining, entertainment and nightlife offerings.
