The Luxor hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip is fighting back against claims that they are involved in violating copyright infringement laws.
In April 2008, Thomas Weldon of Fernandina Beach, Florida obtained a federal trademark for the word “Liquidity” for use in the sale of red wine and has filed a lawsuit against the casino and operator MGM Mirage.
The suit intends to force the resort to stop using the name “Liquidity” for a nightlife offering at the resort.
The resort opened club “Liquidity” featuring a bar and three lounges at the center of the casino floor in 2007.
Attorneys for the casino have responded to the lawsuit by filing a separate suit against Weldon claiming that he intentionally made false statements to the United States Patent and Trademark Office to obtain his registration for the Liquidity mark.
