The law firm of Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP is looking to bring derivative claims against the Board of Directors and officers of MGM Mirage for possible breaches of fiduciary duties.
The firm is investigating whether the Board may have jeopardized the ability of the casino operator to continue to do business in certain parts of the United States, by allowing the gaming company to associate with its Macau partners accused of being Chinese organized crime affiliates.
Last month MGM reached a settlement with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to sell its 50% ownership interest in the Borgata Hotel & Casino Spa and related leased land in Atlantic City following the NJDGE’s determination that the partnership was “unsuitable”.
The company is also being investigated by regulators in Illinois, Mississippi and Michigan.
