One game into their Stanley Cup defense, the Pittsburgh Penguins already have been reminded that the NHL playoffs are a completely different animal than the regular season.

The Senators showed the defending champs that that consistency and determination are as important than star power in winning a playoff round, maybe even more important.

Apparently, NHL odds makers are not buying into the Senators recent success. The line in Vegas is sitting at, Pittsburgh -1.5, -250 and over 5.5 goals.

The Pens are obviously the favorite in the series, but after a game one loss, they might just be looking for answers against the Senators.

Realistically, Pittsburgh was almost certainly expecting their true challenges to come in later rounds against the Washington Capitals or New Jersey Devils.

The Senators’ surprise 5-4 victory in Game 1 changed all that.

Expect the Penguins to be more focused in game to. They will likely even up the series after tonight.
