In the aftermath of the economic downfall that has caused many casino developers to reduce cost, Pinnacle Entertainment has announced that they will not continue plans to develop a second riverboat casino in Lake Charles Louisiana.
Instead they will focus on disciplined capital spending and operational excellence within their existing properties.
The Sugarcane Bay casino was originally planned to neighbor the company’s L’Auberge du Lac casino, however in November the project was redesigned to become an extension of the L’Auberge du Lac casino to cut construction costs.
“Pinnacle is one of Louisiana’s most active and successful developers and operators of casino entertainment properties and remains strongly committed to thoughtfully growing our operations in the state. We also remain deeply committed to the community of Lake Charles and the surrounding area and believe our focus on operational excellence at L’Auberge du Lac will result in economic growth in this market.”
The company did use the announcement to reaffirm its plans to continue development of a casino in Baton Rouge.
