According to Louisiana casino financial reports, the state’s licensed casinos took in $206.5 million last month, down about 5.2 percent from March 2009.
The 13 riverboat casinos took in $142.4 million, while Harrah’s New Orleans land casino won $29.6 million. The four casinos at race tracks won $34.4 million.
Those casinos won $218 million in March of 2009.
This past month’s figures are also down slightly from February 2010 when gamblers lost $208.7 million.
While some experts feel that Louisiana’s casino take is looking better, there is still a long-term trend downward. In March 2008, before the nation’s economic meltdown, the casinos won $229.6 million.

Last week, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. scrapped plans for a second casino-hotel in Lake Charles. Instead, the casino giant said it would reinvest in itself by improving its existing L’Auberge Du Lac gambling resort in the city.
