The developers of a $386 million destination casino in Kansas City will break ground by the end of the month.
Kansas Entertainment, a joint venture of International Speedway Corp and Penn National Gaming plan to open the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway in the first quarter of 2012 overlooking turn 2 at the Kansas Speedway racetrack.
The casino’s first phase will cost $386 million and will include a 100,000-square-foot casino floor with enough room for 2,300 slot machines and 86 gaming tables, a lounge and several dining and entertainment concepts.
The developers have estimated that more than $2 million has already been spent in start-up cost since winning approval by state regulators in February.
Later phases planned to include a hotel, additional gambling space, a spa, a convention center and an entertainment retail district could raise the total to $700 million.
