International gaming company Las Vegas Sands has been awarded a casino license from the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore just one day prior to the planned opening of the $5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort.
In a press release this morning Marina Bay Sands announced that they have received their license and will move forward with plans to open its first phase including 963 out of 2,560 hotel rooms, a portion of its shopping mall, some restaurants, the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the event plaza and the casino at 3:18pm on Tuesday April 27.
The rest of the hotel rooms and suites, the Sands SkyPark and additional shops will be available as part of the grand opening on June 23.
The museum, theatres and the remainder of the shops will open towards the end of the year.
The Singapore resort is said to be the world’s second most expensive development next to MGM Mirage’s CityCenter in Las Vegas.
Marina Bay is expected to surpass its U.S. counterparts by next year producing annual revenue of approximately $1 billion.
