A bill introduced by Senator Lembke has passed the House today and is on the way to the Governor to sign.
The House approved the legislation that would allow Missouri gamblers to use casino chips to purchase food and beverages in a 132-23 vote.
The aim of the bill was to repeal the provision of law that makes it a class B misdemeanor for any gaming licensee to exchange tokens, chips, or other forms of credit used on gambling for anything of value.
Supporters of the legislation said letting patrons use chips to buy food and drinks instead of just betting and tipping would help Missouri casinos compete with those in other states.
