The Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway has made its first financial payment to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City.
Mayor Joe Reardon and Unified Government officials were presented with a $335,781 payment as part of a recent ceremony at Kansas Speedway.
Officials with Penn National Gaming and Kansas Speedway presented a check representing the first two months of advance payments on gaming revenue committed to the local community.
“The Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway will be a tremendous economic asset to Wyandotte County by creating jobs, tourism and revenues for the entire community,” Reardon said.
He went on to say that the payment marks the beginning of many economic benefits the casino will be bringing to the community.
The funds received will go the Unified Government General Fund.
The early payment was part of the terms of the deal negotiated in the Master Development Agreement between the Unified Government and the casino development partnership.
