According to a new report, charting the Atlantic City’s finances, Casino customers are staying longer but spending less while they are there.

The average length of stay was a little more than 15 hours last year, the first time that has happened. That number is a full hour longer than the average length of stay from 2006.

Even though patrons are staying longer on average, casino customers are more reluctant to spend while they are there.

The report says that the casinos’ revenue intake per visitor fell to an average of $8.84 per hour. Figures in that category have been dropping for years, from a peak of $10.54 per hour from just three years ago.

The longer length of stay may seem like goods news for Atlantic City, but those figures are skewed.

There has been a shift in the city’s visitor base. Atlantic City is getting less bus passengers and other day-trip customers because Pennsylvania’s slot parlors have been drawing more business away.
