The developers proposing to build a $35 million, 384,000 square foot casino on 10 acres of land in Delaware Seashore State Park will likely withdraw their bid.
The proposal for the Delaware Seashore Resort & Casino has faced major opposition since it was made public in February.
Developer Clinton Bunting said the location is key to viability of the proposal because 20 million vacationers per year visit the area however the Center for the Inland Bays has raised concerns that such a project could pose a threat to the watershed.
“I think the sensitivity to the (Indian River) site would be an uphill battle,” Clinton Bunting, of Coastal Property Investment, LLC said.
Bunting said that he may consider submitting a new proposal for the gambling hall on another site, if legislature begins to show more support for adding new gaming facilities.
