Power outages forced two closures of the gaming floor at Ameristar casino in St. Charles, Missouri on Friday.
The first outage, lasting just over an hour, caused the casino to shut down the operation of gambling equipment around 9 a.m. The company contributed the outage to a refrigerant leak in the equipment room’s air-conditioning system.
The second outage happened around 11:45 a.m. when the video surveillance equipment became over heated, because of the lack of air conditioning.
The Missouri Gaming Commission forbids gambling unless video surveillance equipment is operational, and both outages affected the equipment.
Air-conditioning repairs allowed resumption of normal electrical service to the video surveillance room and allowed the casino floor to be re-opened at approximately 3:22 p.m.
The remained of the property was unaffected by the outages and remained open. Gamblers were provided with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks while they waited for repairs.
