Nevada’s Gaming Control Board released figures this week that indicates the economy may be recovering and customers are slowly returning to the state’s casino tourist industry.
After February’s double digit increase, the first in almost three years, the state’s gaming revenue fell by less than 1% during the month of March.
“It’s a good start,” Frank Streshley, chief of the control board’s tax and license division said. “We’re still off back to where we were a few years ago, but the year has started off nicely.”
State casino operators collected $912.2 million during March, a decline of 0.66% compared with $918.2 million collected from gamblers in March 2009.
While gaming revenue on the strip increased 2.4% to $467.1 million, compared with $456.1 million collected from gamblers in the same month last year.
