The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians have fold their hands on poker and opted for the more lucrative electronic bingo machine.
With slot machines banned from California’s casino floors, electronic bingo machines have become the number one source of revenue for the San Pablo Lytton Casino.
“There is no question that business is good, particularly as it relates to electronic bingo machines and other table games,” Doug Elmets a spokesman for the tribe said.
In an effort to increase that revenue the tribe has disbanded its card room which featured 14 poker tables for games including Texas Hold’em, No Limit Texas Hold’em, and 7 Card Stud and replaced them with 100 new gambling machines, bring the total to 1,200.
This week the casino laid off 91 workers from dealers to food service personnel, however the tribe says 24 of those employees with be able to apply for new positions in other areas of the gaming hall.
