Ohio lawmakers are closer to reaching a unified bill governing the operations at the states four new casinos scheduled to open in 2012 and 2013.
Both the House and the Senate have submitted their bills this week for discussion, with many common traits included.
On both proposals a seven member gaming commission would be set up to oversee gambling operations including licensing, revenue, and compliance with state laws.
Both proposals also prohibit patrons under the age of 21 to enter the casinos, ban smoking from the premises and alcohol consumption after 2:30 a.m, and require slot winnings to be paid out in chips instead of coins.
The two chambers will hold separate hearings on their proposals this week, before meeting to reach common ground by the June 3 deadline, although so far they have not been able to agree on how the funds should be used and what the winning return requirement should be.
