Bankrupt Black Gaming LLC has said that they plan on demolishing the closed Oasis casino and a portion of the hotel outside of Las Vegas to focus on the Virgin River Hotel & Casino and the CasaBlanca Hotel & Casino.
While they are not certain how many rooms in the 900 room hotel would be demolished, as some are reserved for time share use, an attorney for the company said demolish would begin this summer.
“The Oasis is an outdated, inefficient property,” Greg Garman, a bankruptcy attorney for Black Gaming said.
Garman also said they have not decided what the company will do with the 26 acres of land after the demolition.
Operations at the casino were reduced on December 2008 and eventually closed with the exception of 16 video poker machines and the use of some hotel rooms as overflow from neighboring Black Gaming properties.
Black Gaming has also said that when the economy recovers they plan on opening the more modern 210-room Mesquite Star hotel-casino, which Black acquired out of bankruptcy in 2000 for $6.3 million.
