Mount Airy Casino Resort may be one the worst-performing gambling halls in Pennsylvania, but operators hope that won’t be the case for long.
CEO George Toth says that the Pocono’s casino resort plans to invest more than $100 million into the property over the next year. Mount Airy will be adding table games, a swimming pool and 200 more hotel rooms to their facility.
They also plan to expand its conference facility while enticing a second hotel, several new businesses and a concert arena to the Paradise Township.
With these wholesale changes in place, Toth doesn’t feel like it is that much of a risk even with the $100 million price tag.
“Three years from now, when you look at this property, it will be a very different place,” he said. “We intend to make it a destination. People will come to realize this is not the old Mount Airy Lodge. It is the most beautiful casino in Pennsylvania.”
