It was a little over one year ago that Ray Kot was tragically shot and killed while he worked at the Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City.

He was killed by Mark Magee, of Norristown, Pa. on May 27th 2009. Magee, 58, said he shot Kot because he believed the gaming halls were cheating him.

The city remembered the popular casino supervisor by dedicating a portion of Pennsylvania Avenue. The block of Pennsylvania Avenue between Pacific Avenue and the Boardwalk is now Raymond Kot Place.

“We as his family are so humbled and proud to accept it for him,” said Raymond’s wife Nancy Kot. “Thank you, for this dedication and the chance to heal and move forward.”

It’s closure that also follows a guilty plea, when Magee, admitted to stalking Kot and then fatally shooting him 3 times in a card and dice room.

Now the street right next to the place of his untimely death bears his name.
