According to Nevada gaming regulators, casinos won 5.7 percent less in April as compared to the same month of a year ago.
The state Gaming Control Board said casinos won $810.5 million and tax collections based on those winnings were $39.7 million, a 23.4 percent decrease.
While gambling revenue on the Las Vegas Strip dropped less than 1 percent to $437.3 million, the news was much worse for places like Lake Tahoe and the Boulder Strip. Profits for the Boulder Strip were down more than 13 percent.
Carson Valley, Mesquite and Wendover in Elko County were the only areas in the state to show any revenue increases. However, the three areas made up just a combined 4.1 percent of the state’s gambling revenue.
Some state officials feel that as taxes collected on gambling revenue continues to fall, the state is on desperate need of a financial boost.
