MGM Mirage meet with 250 City Center subcontractors caught in the middle of the legal battle with Perini Building Co, on Wednesday to jump start the process of getting unreconciled bills paid.
MGM Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman said the purpose of the meeting was “to reach out to them directly and let them know what we need in order to ultimately get them through the process and get them paid.”
MGM has been struggling with unreconciled statements, over billing and lack of support from the General Contractor who is suing the casino operator for failing to pay $485 million worth of construction cost.
MGM has paid Perini roughly $5.8 billion with approximately $390 million of the unpaid amounts in dispute.
“If we can get the information we need and reconcile the various bills, we believe we can get this completely resolved by November,” Feldman said. “There might be a certain number of folks where we’re not able to do that, and it may go on or even end up in litigation. But for the overwhelming majority of these folks, we think we can get this process done in six months.”
Construction attorney Georlen Spangler with Kolesar & Leatham, which represents seven subcontractors seeking payment commented on the meeting by saying “At least, there is a line of communication. That’s something,” she said. “I appreciate the fact that they met us.”
