The Internet gambling industry in the US could be in for some major changes in the near future. The Obama Administration has taken office and just a couple weeks in, there are already rumblings about regulating the online gaming industry.

Representative Barney Frank has been pushing for regulations for online gaming for quite a while now. He did not receive much support from the previous administration, but now he believes he has the allies to make it happen.

Frank has said that he will re-introduce an Bill that would begin the process of regulating Internet gambling in the US. At the same time, the Bill would do away with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

The UIGEA was carved into law back in 2006, and rules were published at the end of 2007 to govern the law. The Obama Administration has not decided if the rules will be one of the items they try to overturn from President Bush’s last days in office.
