While Connecticut’s two Indian casinos continue to experience declines in year over year revenue, May’s results were the best in almost a year.

Paul Young, executive director of the state Division of Special Revenue, said the weak economy has reduced consumer spending and gamblers have more choices with slot machine parlors in Rhode Island and New York leading to the lower revenue.

Mohegan Sun reported that gamblers bet less than 7% and slot machine revenue of $65 million, which was 7% less than the same period last year, however was the highest since August 2009 when they brought in $69 million.

The Foxwoods Resort Casino reported an even bigger loss with gamblers betting 6% less and a 9.4% decline with slot machine revenue coming in at $56 million for the month, again the highest since August 2009.

Mohegan contributed more than $16 million from slot revenue to the state and Foxwoods just under $15 million.
