With New Jersey casinos in Atlantic City having been hit hard by the nation’s recession, even the end of the economic downturn might not be enough to save the city now.

That is, now that New Jersey’s neighbors are raising the stakes and changing the market by by bolstering their casino operations.

By the end of the summer, both Pennsylvania and Delaware casinos will be offering their customers a more Vegas-style gaming experience with the addition of table games like blackjack, roulette and even poker.

Delaware introduced table games just weeks ago and Pennsylvania is slated to unveil their table games at most sites as early as next month.

This has the New Jersey Legislature concerned.

“We’re getting hammered from every which way right now, and nobody is standing up for Atlantic City’s survival,” said New Jersey state Sen. Raymond Lesniak.
