Penn National Gaming’s pending purchase of Beulah park has received final regulatory approval from the Ohio State Racing Commission this week.
Penn National Gaming announced the pending sale subject to regulatory approval in early March and expects to close on the track in the second quarter of 2010.
A spokesman for Penn said they will continue to use the property for racing entertainment and other summer attractions including concerts and fairs and will continue to operate the track with little change and no large scale investments until the Video Lottery Terminal vote passes.
Peter M. Carlino, Chief Executive Officer of Penn National commented, “We are excited to carry on the rich 86-year racing heritage of Beulah Park and further expand our nationwide portfolio of racing facilities which will now include seven pari-mutuel facilities.”
Penn National also owns Raceway Park in Toledo and is developing two casinos in the state after voters approved the constitutional amendment last year.
