John Kabbaj, a 36 year old professional poker player from London and 13 year World Series of Poker veteran won his first gold bracelet in Event 45 this week.

Kabbaj finished second in a pot-limit hold ‘em event in 2004. Since than he has made it priority to overcome that disappointment and win his first bracelet.
“In 2004, it was the first time in the history that the WSOP went to a day three,” Kabbaj said. “We were so tired and exhausted.”
He went on two say that after the loss, he was extremely distraught.
“Afterward, I didn’t pick up my money for a week. I didn’t talk to anyone for about three days. I was really down.”
It may have taken five years, but Kabbaj’s win is now sweeter than ever as he outlasted a field of 275 players in the pot-limit hold ‘em World Championship event 45.
