The World Series of Poker was forced to turn away hundreds of angry players earlier this week from the no-limit Texas Hold ‘em main event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas because their was just not room to facilitate all of them.

Even though tournament officials warned players on Sunday that they expected the event to sell out on Monday, hundreds of hopefuls complained that their trips and chances to win millions of dollars had been ruined.

“We are sorry, and I am sorry,” said World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. “The last thing that we ever want to do is deny people entry into our events.”

Tournament officials considered every option to accommodate all of the players but ultimately decided that no solution would have been fair to everyone.

“We’re disappointed about this,” said Pollack. “I wish that we could accommodate you, but we can’t.”

Pollack went on to say that that the issue would be his top priority heading into next year’s World Series of Poker.
