Las Vegas Sands Corp. Chief Executive Sheldon Adelson is slating January or February for the opening of the company’s Marina Bay Sands resort-casino complex in Singapore.
Even amidst the struggling global economy, Sands has continued to push through the construction of the $5 billion Marina Bay project.
The project was originally scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2009, but by halting work on some other projects around the world, Sands has their sites set on early 2010.
Adelson announced that it has topped out the three 55-story hotel towers.
“Topping the hotel towers at Marina Bay Sands is a milestone in an exciting construction and engineering project,” he said. “We’re pleased to be another step closer to delivering on our promise to Singapore and we remain committed to creating the landmark, premier integrated resort in Southeast Asia.”
Upon the final completion of Marina Bay, the complex will be home to the Sands SkyPark, a 7,000-ton public observation deck atop the towers. As well as a museum to commemorate the welcoming hand of Singapore.
The luxury resort will feature world-class entertainment, convention facilities, dining, shopping and of course, Las Vegas-style gaming.
