The Massachusetts Joint committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies will be holding a hearing on October 29 to vote on 17 bills related to expanding gaming in the state.

House speaker Robert DeLeo, Governor Deval Patrick and Senate President Therese Murray have all indicated their support to look toward a casino to generate revenue and jobs.

Trying to get ahead of the competition, David Nunes, a Colorado real estate developer and Bill Warner, head of Warner Gaming based in Las Vegas, presented their proposal to the committee last night.

Their proposal involves building a resort style casino on a 200 acre area in Milford known as The Crossroads Resort.

The team proposes to invest $800 million into the Casino project also to include a hotel, restaurants, night club, retail shops and convention center.

The project is estimated to bring over 7,000 jobs to the area and although revenue and tax figures benefiting the state were not concrete, it was compared to neighboring Connecticut Casinos contributing $400 million to state revenue in 2007.
